Learning Lab

The Joy Guild Learning Lab brings fun activities to you!

In the spirit of our Art Camp for Big Kids studio and retreat classes, we offer fun event activities for groups on location. Gather up your friends, colleagues, clients, party cohorts, neighbors, and other guests for event packages that fit many budgets. We customize projects from tried-and-true art, craft, and play activities for your event to encourage fun, team building, social networking, and creative thinking.

Event pricing starts at just $20 per person and includes all materials plus expert instruction and guided activities. Events are scalable for small groups (5 person minimum) to larger events of 200+.

Reservations are now being accepted for events through September 2012. Request information and check availability.

Activity Examples:

  • Memory Books - Give your host a special treat with a memory book that is made on-site by participants. This is great for birthdays, reunions, and other gatherings where attendees are familiar with each other.
  • Sewing Skills - Learn the basics of sewing by hand and machine with sweet and easy-to-make projects made from new materials and vintage fabric.
  • Papercraft - Choose from a variety of projects from vision board collages to 3D objects to art mobiles using specialty papers, ephemera, found materials, and more.
  • Mini Ropes Course - Popular with groups and teams, these easy and fun team-building exercises help create camaraderie, strengthen relationships, foster team learning, and get people moving.
  • Clothing and Textile Upcycling - Re-purpose vintage and gently used garments to add some flair and create a unique piece to wear or give. Learn about cloth design and embellishment, hand sewing, and basic machine sewing. Bring your own original garments; embellishments provided.
  • Sock and Glove Creatures - Irresistible and charming, use socks and gloves to create personal, unique stuffed animals for yourself or one-of-a-kind-gifts.
  • T-shirt Memory Quilts - Use old t-shirts from high school, college, concerts, events, etc. that you can't seem to part with but NEVER wear. Instead of cluttering your closet shelves, use these shirts to create a charming memory quilt and learn basic sewing techniques. Typical quilts will take 10-20 hours and most work is done at home.
